Boy and Ape: Part 2

...When bedtime came, I tucked right in. I fell fast asleep and let my dreams begin. In the plains of Africa, I was alone with my friends. Five apes we were, three Chimpanzees, the gorilla, and me, all of us together under a tall tree. With a grunt followed with an echo of hooting and howling, we planned to touch the moon. Tonight the moon was full; its whiteness filled the sky. In a clearing we stopped, the moment was just right. The chimpanzees hopped up and down with excitement under the moon. One-by-one they piled on top the gorilla. Luckily, there was but one more than two. Last to climb, I sat under the gorilla’s black eyes. He grunted a smile, one that is only perceived so by a friend. I delicately made my way to the top of this primate pile. On top, way above the world, the wind played with my hair. The moon was close, closer than it had ever been. I stretched, but it was out of reach. I could not touch the moon. I groaned reaching out once more and the pile swayed, spilling all the apes to the dirt.
